Professor Péter Gáspár of KJK Honored with the Széchenyi Prize

Dr. Péter Gáspár, mechanical engineer, research professor, full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and university professor, has been awarded the Széchenyi Prize. The honor was presented in recognition of his exceptionally valuable scientific career for Hungary, his outstanding research and achievements in the fields of model-based and data-driven control theory, and integrated and coordinated vehicle control, as well as his exemplary teaching activities.

The Széchenyi Prize was established by the National Assembly on January 25, 1990, to replace the former State Prize. Since then, it has been awarded annually on March 15 to distinguished figures in scientific and technical life. The award was first bestowed in 1990: at that time, in addition to seven individual recipients, two research collectives were honored, and 12 posthumous recognitions were also granted. The prize has two levels—the Grand Prize and the Prize—with the Grand Prize having been awarded only a handful of times to date.

This prestigious recognition was also received by other luminaries from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME):

  • Gergely Zaránd, BME’s Vice Rector for Science.
  • Ferenc Krausz, Nobel Laureate, honorary doctor, and former student of the University.

Our heartfelt congratulations to all the awardees for this exceptional recognition!
